According to a Monday evening report from Dan Graziano of ESPN, the Las Vegas Raiders have placed an original-round tender on quarterback Nathan Peterman. With veteran signal-caller Derek Carr currently serving as the team's starter under center, Peterman could once again compete for the team's backup job for the upcoming 2020 campaign.

However, despite this news surrounding Peterman, the Raiders are also rumored to be deep in discussions with former Tennessee Titans starting quarterback and current unrestricted free agent Marcus Mariota. If both Carr and Mariota remain in the fold in Las Vegas, it will surely make things a bit complicated for Peterman going forward.

The soon-to-be 26-year-old quarterback in Peterman has had quite the rocky start to his NFL career after stringing together a promising collegiate tenure for the Pitt Panthers. Originally selected by the Buffalo Bills in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft out of Pitt, Peterman was initially believed to be a possible option to serve as the team's quarterback of the future — which all went sound very, very quickly.

Spending just two seasons in Buffalo when all was said and done, Peterman appeared in a total of eight games as a member of the Bills with four games coming as a rookie in 2017-18 and another four coming the following season. Yet to play another snap of regular season football despite also spending time with the Raiders along the way, Peterman must continue to overcome the initial stigma that was placed upon him during his time in Buffalo.

As it stands today, Peterman has thrown just three touchdowns against a whopping 12 interceptions as an NFL quarterback.
