McVay has been conducting business via Zoom during the quarantine, while quarterback Jared Goff began leading players-only workouts in recent weeks. Rams veterans are currently slated to report to training camp on July 28.
The Rams also believe the fact that they have so many returning players gives them an “advantage,” according to Goff. “You’ve got teams that are really trying to install both the offense and defense virtually, which is damn near impossible.”
McVay is entering his fourth season as L.A.'s head coach. His team is looking to bounce back from a disappointing 9-7 showing in 2019 after their run to Super Bowl LIII.
SoFi Stadium will also host the Rams' Week 1 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
With so much still uncertain about what the 2020 NFL season and preseason will look like, Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay is preparing—or not preparing—for anything.
The Rams are set to open up their preseason on Aug. 14 at their new $5-billion SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, but the NFL is considering reportedly considering reducing the number of preseason games from four to two for healthy and safety concerns.
Yet, despite the lack of a clear strategy going forward, McVay seems confident about where his team is at. “I feel like we’ve been able to gain an edge in the midst of all the things going on, and we’ve got to maintain that edge so we can hit the ground running when we come back,” he said.
