The Los Angeles Rams are going to be without some of their marquee players against the Arizona Cardinals, but they'll get another one back on Sunday. Ahead of their crucial showdown with the Cardinals, Cam Akers has been ruled in, per the team.

While the Rams need a win against the Cardinals or a win by the Green Bay Packers to make the playoffs, they'll be a bit shorthanded. Besides Jared Goff, Los Angeles will also be without Cooper Kupp, Darrell Henderson and then Michael Brockers on the defensive side of the ball.

However, Akers is set to make his return to the field after missing last week's game against the Seattle Seahawks. Akers suffered a high ankle sprain in the Rams' surprising loss to the New York Jets in Week 15.

Even though these sprains usually take a few weeks to recover from, Akers wasn't going to allow himself to miss Sunday's game. Before sustaining the ankle injury, Akers was beginning to find his groove for the Rams. In his past four games — including his performance against the Jets — Akers rushed for 390 yards and two touchdowns.

Seeing that Goff won't be operating the offense, Sean McVay could lean on the rushing attack a bit more with John Wolford under center. With Akers not fully healthy and Henderson out, McVay could look to Malcolm Brown to take on a bigger load.

Both the Rams and the Cardinals are hobbled coming into Sunday's decisive game. Even though it is unknown what his role will be, Los Angeles is going to have Akers available in the backfield in an effort to clinch a playoff spot.
