In his second season in the NFL, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Jared Goff has taken a significant leap forward while leading his team to much success in the process.

Despite his struggles in his rookie campaign, it was something that former Rams head coach Jeff Fisher feels he saw coming down the road, according to Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.

Goff didn't display much of that under Fisher as he looked out of sorts last year finishing with 1,089 passing yards with a 54.6 completion percentage with five touchdown passes and seven interceptions, and holding a 22.2 quarterback rating. He was also last in the league in yards per completion (5.31), second-worst total quarterback rating, and the fourth-lowest completion percentage.

Much of that came about from the Rams running what seemed like more a predictable offensive scheme that didn't allow for either Goff or Pro Bowl running back Todd Gurley to strive in any compacity. However, it has been a nearly complete turnaround in his first year with head coach Sean McVay with the Rams being tied with the Philadelphia Eagles for the league's highest-scoring offense at 31.3 points per game while Goff has played a huge part of that.

The 23-year-old is currently ninth in the league with 3,503 passing yards, seventh with 24 touchdown passes and a 98.9 passer rating, and fifth with 7.98 yards per attempt. In fact, this has helped him earn a first alternate spot for this season's Pro Bowl. Granted, Goff has benefitted from significant additions to the roster on the offensive side of the ball; he has certainly played like a bonafide franchise quarterback.

Although Fisher may want to take credit for taking Goff with the first overall pick in last year's draft, it's hard to believe that kind of jump would have happened with him still at the helm this season.
