To no one's surprise, the Los Angeles Rams have exercised the fifth-year option on quarterback Jared Goff's contract, according to the team.

Goff will now be under contract through 2020.

There has been some chatter about whether or not the Rams will begin contract extension talks with Goff, but, for now, they seem content to know that he will be with the team for at least the next two seasons.

Goff is coming off of a terrific 2018 campaign in which he threw for 4,688 yards, 32 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while completing 64.9 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 101.1 en route to a Pro Bowl appearance.

Most importantly, Goff led the Rams to 12 wins and an NFC West division title before taking them all the way to the Super Bowl before they eventually lost to the New England Patriots.

The 24-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of California, was originally selected by the Rams with the first overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He went on to make seven starts during his rookie year, throwing for 1,089 yards, five touchdowns and seven picks while completing 54.6 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 63.6.

Goff then flourished in Sean McVay's first year as head coach in 2017, as he totaled 3,804 yards, 28 touchdowns and seven interceptions while recording a completion percentage of 62.1 percent and a passer rating of 100.5, making the Pro Bowl as a result.

This past postseason run for Los Angeles also represented the franchise's first trip to the playoffs since the 2004-05 campaign.
