The preseason injury bug has struck once again. This time, it bit two Los Angeles Rams players in Josh Carraway and Aaron Neary.

Adam Schefter of ESPN revealed via Twitter that the two players in the Rams depth chart will be out for a significant amount of time due to their respective serious injuries.

Josh Carraway was taken in the seventh round but is still yet to play meaningful NFL minutes, making rounds in Tennessee and Washington beforehand. He was named All-Big 12 Conference in his final two years at Texas Christian University. He made 63 solo tackles and 26.5 tackles for loss in his four-year stint with Horned Frogs.

Aaron Neary is also a good depth option for the Rams' C position. He was signed by the Denver Broncos after going undrafted in 2016, but he never got any reps on the field. However, he has started one game for the LA Rams and is good enough to attract attention from NFL teams.

With the serious injuries the two have incurred, the question about the necessity of preseason is brought up again. Pro Football Talk covered the pros and cons of the preseason to NFL teams, and they believe that it should be removed from the schedule altogether.

However, there are preseason advocates who support the period of these tune-up games. They argue that it would be hard for coaches to assess the abilities of their rookies and the fringe players fighting for a spot in the 53-man roster without it.

Whether you like it or hate it, preseason will likely be here to stay. And injuries will continue to plague players and teams unfortunate enough to experience it.
