Matthew Stafford and the Los Angeles Rams played their final regular season game against the San Francisco 49ers at SoFi Stadium, but they looked like they were the visitors in the contest.

After all, instead of the blue and gold one would expect in a Rams home game, the whole stadium was enveloped in red and white as a contingent of 49ers fans made their way to LA to support their team.

Of course, it worked. The 49ers escaped with a 27-24 victory to clinch their spot in the NFL Playoffs, all while pushing down the Rams to no. 3 in the NFC postseason picture.

After the game, Stafford hinted at how they were like the visiting team in their own home. It's unusual for any opponent to talk about the visitors' fans after a game in their own stadium, but the Rams QB couldn't help but notice the massive difference.

“We had a chance there at the end of the game. I thought our guys did a good job communicating. It was a tough environment for us to communicate in, really, the whole second half,” Stafford said, referencing how the 49ers fans rallied the San Francisco team after falling 14-3 at halftime (via Rams communication).

“Our guys did a nice job and we got that lead back. Just didn’t finish it the way we can on offense and could’ve—had we gotten a first down there, the game probably would’ve been over.”

While Stafford refused to talk about the lack of Rams fans in attendance and how the 49ers supporters dominated the stadium, he did give credit to the visitors for doing a good job of making life hard for them.

“They did a nice job showing. That's for sure,” Stafford added.

Hopefully, Rams fans will show up come the postseason as the LA franchise tries to get back to the Super Bowl for the first time since 2018.
