Los Angeles Rams defensive end Michael Brockers gave fans a revealing perspective playing next to star tackle Aaron Donald.

“It’s a little weird. It’s a little bit of love and hate. You love him because you know he’s going to make the play, but he’s going to make a lot of the plays,” said Brockers to Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson.

Brockers will continue enjoying that luxury for the foreseeable future. He signed a three-year, $24M deal to return to the Rams this past April after unsuccessfully passing a physical examination with the Baltimore Ravens.

He later revealed what makes Donald such a special player for the Rams.

“At the same time, it’s great to watch greatness. It has something to do with motivation. Seeing him makes me strive to do better. That’s why I like playing with him.”

Donald, the 14th overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, has made his presence felt as soon as he stepped in the gridiron. He made the Pro Bowl in all of his playing years so far and a five-time member of the All-Pro first-team. Donald’s intimidating presence has led to two Defensive Player of the Year nods.

The Mob Squad, led by Brockers and Donald, has led to considerable success, even pushing the Rams all the way to a Super Bowl LIII appearance, coming up short against the New England Patriots in a highly-defensive game. Brockers revealed that while the loss still stings, it currently serves as motivation for the entire Rams defensive line.

“Yes sir, that’s what drives us. After the Super Bowl loss, guys got right back into the weight room. It’s that same feeling. We feel like we left a lot of games out there on the field where we feel like we could have won. For us, it’s definitely a little fuel to our fire.”
