The Los Angeles Rams' rushing attack was brilliant in Week 1, but rookie Darrell Henderson was not a part of it.

While Todd Gurley rushed for 97 yards and Malcolm Brown punched in a couple of touchdowns, Henderson carried the ball just once and did not log any yardage.

But Henderson is not in Sean McVay's doghouse.

McVay said this week that it's about getting experience for Henderson, and the more experience he gets, the more playing time he will receive:

“The biggest thing is just watching those guys in the room that he has to use as example of – ‘This is what it looks like to do right,’ with Todd Gurley, Malcolm Brown,” said McVay, per Cameron DeSilva of Rams Wire. “Really, with him, he’s a young player that we have a lot of confidence in and looking forward to seeing a very bright future for Darrell. Right now he’s continuing to get more and more confidence, get more experience and as he does those things, you might see his opportunities grow.”

Given all of the hype surrounding Henderson coming into this season, his lack of touches in Week 1 was a bit jarring.

The 22-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Memphis, was selected by the Rams in the third round (70th pick overall) of the NFL Draft back in April.

He is coming off of a monstrous final year at Memphis, as he racked up 1,909 yards and 22 touchdowns on the ground during his junior campaign.

With Gurley recovering from a knee injury and Brown being unproven, many felt that Henderson would get a chance early, but it seems as if his time has not yet come.
