It goes without saying that the Los Angeles Rams were one of the busier teams in the offseason. The majority of their efforts came on the defensive side of the ball.

No one is more excited about the moves than defensive coordinator Wade Phillips. According to Myles Simmons of the team website, not even old age is keeping Phillips from enjoying his time in Los Angeles:

“They say I’m old, but it doesn’t get old to me,” Phillips said. “I’m looking forward to it.”

He added that the team's expectations are bigger than last year.

“I think we have a great opportunity here,” Phillips said. “We took a big step forward last year. I don’t know if everyone realizes how big of a step it was, but it was a big step forward last year, and we’re looking forward to this year.”

There is certainly good reason for Phillips' excitement. Los Angeles already boasted one of the most opportunistic defenses in the NFL. However, they got even better with the addition of defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh to go with a couple of Pro Bowl cornerbacks in Marcus Peters and Aqib Talib.

Although the Rams have perhaps the most formidable roster in the league on paper, Phillips is going to be the one that has to make it all work together. Fortunately, his resume speaks for itself when it comes to these situations. That said, it is clear that the veteran coach is not letting his twilight years limit his chances at another Super Bowl.
