The Indianapolis Colts are among the short list of teams that could be looking to improve their quarterback position in free agency. While Brissett performed well in spots this past season, it is evident that the Colts aren't comfortable with him being the future of the franchise.

Indianapolis was once linked as a team that could enter their names in the sweepstakes for Tom Brady. However, in recent weeks, the Colts have been removed as a candidate for Brady this offseason.

Besides Brady, Indianapolis should have a few other options available to them if they choose to address the position in free agency. It's important to note that the Colts could very well select a quarterback in the 2020 NFL Draft instead. With that being said, here are the three best options at quarterback for the Colts in free agency.

3. Jameis Winston

As the Colts are breaking down their choices this offseason, they are going to realize they don't have many viable options. Someone that is an outside shot to join Indianapolis, but is an intriguing possibility is Jameis Winston.

Ahead of the March 12 deadline for teams to utilize their franchise tag, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are expected to use theirs on Shaquil Barrett. Given that, Winston's tenure in Tampa Bay is seemingly nearing a close.

In his lone season with Bruce Arians in 2019, Winston threw for a career-high 5,109 yards and 33 touchdowns. But Winston's 30 interceptions this past season are the reason why the Colts — and other teams — will be wary of signing the former No. 1 pick.

Even though Frank Reich could get Winston to thrive in his offense, his price tag could prevent the Colts from taking a chance on him. Rather than surprise people by signing Winston, Indianapolis would be better off considering other options.

2. Philip Rivers

The most common name that has been connected to the Colts in recent weeks is Philip Rivers. Rivers is guaranteed to be headed elsewhere in 2020 after the Los Angeles Chargers announced they wouldn't be re-signing him.

Seeing that Rivers is near the end of his career, it's best if he goes to a team that provides him with some familiarity. Unlike some teams, the Colts have an offense that Rivers has experience in. Of course, Rivers worked with Reich and Nick Sirianni — the offensive coordinator in Indianapolis — when they were with the Chargers.

Without a doubt, if the Colts want to sign a short-term option, Rivers makes the most sense for the franchise. Plus, signing Rivers would still give Indianapolis the option to draft a quarterback if they become enamored with one of the incoming prospects.

1. Teddy Bridgewater

While Rivers makes the most sense as a short-term option, there's a quarterback that could possibly be a long-term option. If the Colts aren't a fan of anyone in this year's draft, Teddy Bridgewater should be near the top of their list of targets in free agency.

Bridgewater, a former first-round pick, flashed some potential as a starter in 2019. Following an injury to Drew Brees, Bridgewater was able to step in and keep the New Orleans Saints offense afloat.

In his five starts, Bridgewater threw for 1,205 yards, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions while going 5-0. Even though he doesn't have a big, flashy arm, Bridgewater does take care of the ball well. Above all, he's 27 years old and Reich could help him elevate his game even further.
