New Sacramento Kings guard Cory Joseph heaped praise on his former coach Nick Nurse of the Toronto Raptors.

Joseph — who will be playing under Nurse again, albeit on the Canadian men's national basketball team — briefly recalled his stint with the Raptors from 2015 to 2017. During that time, Nurse was still an assistant under Dwane Casey.

The 27-year-old point guard noted that Nurse has been a model of consistency and hard work for the Raptors even when he wasn't at the helm.

“Nick is great. Everybody saw what he did in his first year with the Raps,” Joseph said, per Josh Lewenberg of The Sports Network. “He did it a little more behind the scenes when I was with him. But he's been doing this for a long time… He's a great coach.”

To recall, the Raptors fired Casey in 2018 and subsequently promoted Nurse to the head coaching post. In his first year at the job, Nurse led Toronto to a 58-24 regular-season record. More importantly, the first-year head coach led the Raps to their first title in franchise history, ousting the powerhouse Golden State Warriors in six games in the 2019 NBA Finals.

Now, Nurse will hope to replicate the same success as he takes over Canada basketball for the FIBA World Cup in China. And Joseph, in his second stint under Nurse, is hoping that he'll play a role in leading the Canadians to world basketball glory.
