Toronto Raptors guard Danny Green took some criticisms when Golden State Warriors superstar Klay Thompson went down with a knee injury in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals.

Late in the third quarter of Game 6, Thompson was on the verge of finishing a fastbreak play, but Green had other plans in mind. Green tried to block Thompson, who then landed awkwardly, causing his left knee to buckle. After the play, fans blamed Green for Thompson's injury.

But according to Michael Grange of Rogers Sportsnet, Warriors players do not think Green made a dirty play. Green revealed that he talked to Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala, who both told him that they knew the intention to challenge Thompson was clean. The veteran guard added that he has also reached out to Thompson.

Thompson failed to return to the game on Thursday. The Raptors managed to take advantage, as they escaped with a 114-110 win to win their first-ever NBA title. After the title-clinching game, it was revealed that Thompson sustained a torn ACL, which came just a game after Kevin Durant was diagnosed with a ruptured Achilles.

Thompson is expected to miss next season or at least a major part of the next season due to the injury. It remains to be seen how the injury will affect his free agency this summer.
