Toronto Raptors power forward Jonas Valanciunas is trying to keep his spirits up after dislocating his left thumb.

Jonas Valanciunas underwent surgery on Thursday and will be out for at least four weeks. The big man suffered the injury Wednesday night against the Golden State Warriors when Draymond Green hit his hand hard while trying to slap the ball away.

After seeing his twisted thumb, Valanciunas had a funny reaction to it instead of feeling bad for himself, declaring himself a “Raptor for life,” according to Mike Ganter of the Toronto Sun.

In 30 games this season, Jonas Valanciunas is averaging 12.8 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game for the Raptors, who have the best record in the NBA. The 26-year-old is shooting 57.5 percent from the field, 30.0 percent from beyond the arc and 81.9 percent from the free-throw line. The team is going to miss his rebounding and toughness during this stretch.

Valanciunas is making $16.5 million this season and has a player option worth $17.6 million for next year. Greg Monroe, who hasn't seen much action this year, figures to see his playing time go up now that Valanciunas is out. The Raptors also have one open roster spot if they want to add a center through free agency.
