Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry will not be making any sort of recruiting pitches to All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard to convince him to stay with the Toronto Raptors this summer, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.

Lowry just wants Leonard to be content with whatever decision he makes.

“I’ve dealt with this before with DeMar — the speculation — and I will be happy for Kawhi Leonard when he makes his decision,” Lowry told The Athletic. “Nothing else matters but his happiness, and that’s how I am, because our brotherhood is too small for us to say this, that and the other (about another player’s free agency decision). Our brotherhood in the NBA is really tiny, and we really all appreciate and support and want each other happy. That’s where it is with me and that situation. I just want him to be happy.”

As far as his mention of DeMar, Lowry was referring to former Raptors and current San Antonio Spurs shooting guard DeMar DeRozan's free agency during the summer of 2016, when DeRozan spurned other interested teams to re-sign with Toronto.

So, what does Lowry think? Has he been able to get a read on what Leonard wants to do this coming offseason?

“There’s no read,” Lowry continued. “We don’t have to read him, because he talks to us. He’s our teammate. He’s a guy we talk to every day. He’s awesome. He’s enjoying being back on the floor playing basketball at a high level. That’s what he’s really enjoying.”

Cryptic quotes everywhere. Seems perfectly appropriate for any topic of which the subject is Leonard.

Right now, all that matters to Lowry is that the Raptors are 23-9 and hold the first overall seed in the Eastern Conference.
