Toronto Raptors center Marc Gasol is only averaging 7.9 points per game in the playoffs.

Raptors head coach Nick Nurse says Gasol is too talented of a player to not score more than that. The Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers are tied at 1-1 in the second round.

For Toronto to defeat this talented Sixers squad, Gasol has to be more aggressive.

“I always think that really good teams, offensively anyway, usually need a lead guy. And then obviously a second guy. But the third guy is also important too — that there’s a third guy you can go to and score,” Nurse said, via Arden Zwelling of Sports Net. “Now, we’ve got Kawhi, Pascal, and Kyle can be that guy. But I think Marc needs to inch his way into that discussion. He’s just too talented of a scorer to not put up a few more points.”

With the Memphis Grizzlies, Gasol was always the first or second option on offense. With the Raptors, the former Defensive Player of the Year is sometimes the fourth option behind Kawhi Leonard, Pascal Siakam and Kyle Lowry.

The Raptors aren't asking Gasol to score 20 points like he used to do every game in Memphis. They just need more than what he's producing right now.
