Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson are both viewed as two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. But the Baltimore Ravens quarterback understands that he has some catching up to do if he wants to be regarded in the same sentence as Mahomes.

While making an appearance on ESPN, Jackson spoke about Mahomes and the upcoming season:

“I’ve got win to the Super Bowl, I’ve got to get where he’s at,” Jackson said on ESPN.

Mahomes began his career with the Kansas City Chiefs as the backup quarterback to veteran Alex Smith. In his second season, Mahomes would burst onto the scene and win the NFL's MVP award. Then, of course, the gunslinging phenom would lead the Chiefs to a Super Bowl victory in his third season in 2019.

On the other hand, Jackson has followed a similar path as Mahomes so far in his career. After being taken by the Ravens in the 2018 NFL Draft, Jackson would spend most of his rookie year as the backup to Joe Flacco.

Just like Mahomes, he would compile a stellar second season en route to winning the NFL's MVP trophy. However, Jackson wants to produce the same results as Mahomes did in his third season, which involves winning a Super Bowl.

Last season, the Ravens were able to go 14-2 and secure the No. 1 seed in the AFC. Unfortunately, Jackson and company would be upset by the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Divisional Round of the playoffs. Jackson isn't going to let the outcome of that game determine his future though.

“It’s over. I don’t dwell on losses. That was in January,” Jackson said.

The dual-threat quarterback has done a remarkable job improving in his first two seasons. In his third season, Jackson has his eyes on dethroning Mahomes and the Chiefs as the reigning Super Bowl champions.
