The MLB offseason is beginning to pick up and there have been quite a few trade rumors popping up over the past 48 hours. One of the surprising teams that has seemed to be among the most aggressive so far this offseason has been the Cincinnati Reds. It has been a long time since the Reds were contenders, but they appear ready to get back to relevance.

Cincinnati has made it clear that they want to beef up their starting rotation this offseason. That has become even more apparent with a new report.

According to a report from Jon Morosi of the MLB Network, the Reds are in talks with the Cleveland Indians about two of their starting pitchers. Corey Kluber and Trevor Bauer are the two teams that the report named as trade targets for the Reds.

Obviously, Kluber would be the bigger acquisition for the Reds. He would be a legitimate ace that the Reds could build around moving forward. Bauer, on the other hand, would be a solid rotation arm, but Cincinnati would not be able to build around him.

Kluber finished the 2018 MLB season with a 20-7 record to go along with a 2.89 ERA. Bauer ended up with a 12-6 record and a 2.21 ERA. Both pitchers put up massive seasons and are extremely intriguing for teams that need pitching this offseason.

Needless to say, it will be interesting to see what the Reds do this offseason. They are facing an uphill battle getting back into contention in the NL Central. The Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Brewers, and St. Louis Cardinals are all much better teams than the Reds are right now,.

All of that being said, an aggressive move for an ace starter and a couple other players being signed might just make them a tough team to beat.
