After around a year of a dispute with All-Pro offensive tackle Trent Williams, the Washington Redskins finally traded the veteran to the San Francisco 49ers. However, not everybody was a fan of the move, including another veteran in star running back Adrian Peterson.

“I didn't like the trade,” Peterson, 35, told reporters, via the Washington Post's Sam Fortier on Twitter. “Obviously, I feel like Trent is the best offensive lineman in the game. … I was hoping that there'd be some good ending.”

The Redskins, who were feuding with Williams over a conflict with the team's medical staff following a benign cancer diagnosis years ago that flared up worse later, moved Williams for a 2020 fifth-round pick, taking San Diego State center Keith Ismael with the 156th overall selection, and a 2021 third-round selection, sending the longtime D.C. tackle to the defending conference champion 49ers.

Williams could have been a big help to Peterson in prolonging the NFL's all-time fifth-leading career yards rusher keep pushing up the list as the one-time league MVP enters his 14th professional season.

Peterson and Williams briefly shared reps together in Washington's offense in the running back's first season in D.C., as Williams last suited up for the Redskins for 13 games during the 2018 campaign.

After spending 10 memorable years with the Minnesota Vikings, Peterson bounced around a bit between teams like the Arizona Cardinals and New Orleans Saints before landing with Washington, rushing for over 1,000 yards in 2018 (alongside Williams) and having to be the No. 1 option in 2019 after red-shirt rookie Derrius Guice went down again.
