The Houston Rockets own the best offense in the league, an assessment you could make straight up simply by looking at their league-best 115.4 points per game average. While that’s not the be-all and end-all number to conclude that Houston’s offense is the best, it clearly tells a lot. What it fails to illuminate, however, is the fact that the Rockets are making that many points despite the fact that they’re last in the NBA in passes made (260.7).
With that in mind, Fred Katz of the Norman Transcript asked Rocket head coach Mike D’Antoni prior to Houston’s Christmas Day road game against the Oklahoma City Thunder Monday, per Brady Trantham of ThunderDigest.com

As what Mike D’Antoni said, the Rockets are relishing the luxury of having one of the best – if not the best – one-on-one-guy in the NBA today in James Harden. Harden is a constant triple-threat for the Rockets, able to find multiple ways to contribute to the offense, whether it’s by setting the table for his teammates or by scoring the ball himself.
Harden began Monday averaging 32.5 points and 9.0 assists per game. Harden paces the NBA in points per game on isolation plays with 11.5.
Apart from James Harden, the Rockets also have Chris Paul, who owns one of the most brilliant minds in the league.
With two high basketball IQ guys in the Rockets' fold, Mike D’Antoni has the right floor leaders to run the high-octane offense he’s been long known for.
