Houston Rockets head coach Mike D'Antoni says superstar point guard Russell Westbrook is day-to-day moving forward with his quad injury, per Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle. The decision on Westbrook's return is based on what the medical staff says.

The Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder are tied at 2-2 in the first round of the 2020 playoffs. After Houston took a 2-0 lead, it appeared they were on their way to sweeping Oklahoma City and giving Westbrook extra rest.

However, the Thunder now have momentum in the series after winning Games 3 and 4, and the Rockets may need to rush Westbrook back just to win the series. Game 5 is on Wednesday, and all the pressure is on James Harden and Co. since they are the ones with title aspirations.

The Thunder, meanwhile, are playing freely since they have nothing to lose.

During the 2019-20 regular season, Westbrook appeared in 57 games for the Rockets. He averaged 27.2 points, 7.9 rebounds and 7.0 assists while shooting 47.2 percent from the field, 25.8 percent from beyond the arc and 76.3 percent from the free-throw line.

When the Rockets first announced Westbrook was going to miss the beginning of the 2020 playoffs, most people assumed the franchise was just being extra careful with the former MVP.

Now, there is a concern in Houston that Russell Westbrook's injury may be serious since he's not back yet despite the Rockets clearly needing him. Houston needs to dig deep if Westbrook isn't ready to go for this series.
