The Houston Rockets are still trying to put together a trade for Carmelo Anthony, and teaming up with two great ball handlers in Chris Paul and James Harden could potentially bring out a playing style of Anthony that is reminiscent of his Olympic form.

The New York Knicks forward is one of the greatest scorers in NBA history, with a seemingly overflowing bag of tricks to utilize in order to score. While some complain about his willingness, or lack thereof, to get his teammates involved, Anthony seems to be a completely different type of player when playing for Team USA.

As such, the Rockets are hoping that, if they manage to land his services, Anthony would be able to channel his Olympic self, per Sean Deveney of Sporting News.

For the Rockets and coach Mike D’Antoni, the hope is that Anthony is ready to love NBA basketball again, that he can take with him to Houston some of that spirit he’s shown as an Olympian over the years.

Carmelo Anthony has had a previous experience with D'Antoni, as the latter was coaching the former during his early days in New York. Although they had disagreements, Anthony showed a willingness to adapt to the uptempo style of play that was asked of him. If the Rockets can pull off a trade, James Harden, Chris Paul, and Carmelo Anthony will be a force to be reckoned with.
