Russell Westbrook was the fourth overall pick in the 2008 draft. Since that time, the California native has made $205,415,040 through NBA contracts, per Spotrac.

The Seattle SuperSonics drafted Westbrook out of UCLA. The explosive guard signed a two-year, $7.25 million rookie contract with Seattle. Westbrook averaged 15.3 points and 5.3 assists as a rookie. He made $3,493,680.

In his second year in the league, Russell Westbrook put up 16.1 points and 8.0 assists while making $3,755,640. Slowly but surely, the now Oklahoma City Thunder were starting to make some noise in the NBA with Westbrook and Kevin Durant leading the way.

During his third season with the Thunder, Westbrook averaged 21.9 points and 8.2 assists. He made his first All-Star team and was set to sign a lucrative rookie-scale extension with OKC.

However, the 2011-12 campaign was the lockout year, so that made things a little difficult for both sides to get a deal done.

Eventually, though, Russell Westbrook signed a five-year, $78.6 million maximum rookie-scale extension with Oklahoma City. He made $13,668,750 in the first year of the deal, which was during the 2012-13 season.

Westbrook played in just 46 games during the 2013-14 campaign because of a knee injury. He averaged 21.8 points and 6.9 assists while making $14,693,906. Durant won the MVP Award that season.

In 2014-15, Russell Westbrook averaged 28.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 8.6 assists while making $15,719,062. He returned to the All-Star game and wound up leading the NBA in scoring since Durant missed the beginning of the season, came back for 27 games and then sat out again after getting hurt.

The 2015-16 season was the last year Durant played with Westbrook in OKC. Russ made $16,744,218 that season and put up 23.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and 10.4 assists. The Thunder had a 3-1 series lead on the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 Western Conference Finals. However, Durant choked in Games 5, 6 and 7 and the Warriors came back to win the series.

KD then left Westbrook and OKC for the Warriors, putting Russ in a difficult spot. Was he going to stay with a Thunder team that had no other star beside him or request a trade to a contender?

Russell Westbrook ended up staying loyal to the Thunder. He signed a three-year, $86 million contract with OKC before the start of the 2016-17 season. Westbrook then averaged a triple-double and won the MVP award during the 2016-17 campaign, cementing himself as one of the greatest players in NBA history.

Russ made $26,540,100 during his MVP season. He racked up an NBA record 42 triple-doubles.

In the summer of 2017, Thunder general manager Sam Presti got Westbrook some help by trading for stars Paul George and Carmelo Anthony. Russ made $28,530,608 in 2017-18 and averaged a triple-double for the second consecutive season.

However, OKC lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Utah Jazz. The team wound up trading Anthony after just one season since he wasn't a good fit.

In 2018-19, Westbrook put up a triple-double again for an entire season while making $35,654,150. It ended up being his last year in OKC, as the Thunder traded Russ and George in the summer of 2019.

OKC sent Westbrook to the Houston Rockets and PG-13 to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Before the 2019-20 season was suspended due to COVID-19, Russell Westbrook was scheduled to make $38,506,482. The former MVP was averaging 27.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 7.0 assists in his first season with Houston.

Westbrook is set to make $41,358,814 in 2020-21 and $44,211,146 in 2021-22. He has a player option worth $47,063,478 for the 2022-23 season.
