New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees will take his time to contemplate the next step of his storied NFL career.

The one-time Super Bowl Champion had to face questions about his supposed impending retirement in the aftermath of the Saints' elimination at the hands of Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccanneers. New Orleans succumbed to Brady and Co. in their NFL Divisional Round match at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Sunday, 30-20.

While obviously riddled with emotions after the game, the 42-year-old Saints quarterback showed composure and did not rush into any decision, per Mark Maske of the Washington Post.

“I'm going to give myself an opportunity to think about the season and think about a lot of things, just like I did last year, and make a decision,” Drew Brees said.

Reports of Brees walking away from the game has been prevalent since last season, but he did end up returning for his 15th year with the Saints. Fox Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer, however, has guaranteed that Brees will officially hang it up after Sunday's match.

“Drew Brees, tonight will be the last game he plays at the Superdome. Drew Brees will be done. That’s it. Tom Brady will continue. Drew Brees, this will be his last game in the Superdome.”

If it was truly the last time fans would ever see Brees in the gridiron, he did leave the game with his held up high.

After starting his NFL career with the San Diego Chargers from 2001 to 2005, Brees truly found his home in NOLA. Apart from leading the Saints to the title in Super Bowl XLIV, the esteemed quarterback has accumulated a legendary career. Brees is a Super Bowl MVP, a two-time NFL Offensive Player of the Year (2008, 2011), a Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year (2006), and NFL Comeback Player of the Year (2004), among many others. He also holds records for most career passing yards and pass completions.
