New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton is known for strutting the sidelines in his favorite pair of Jordans. It seems his choice of footwear did not go unnoticed by the man himself in Michael Jordan.

Payton recently recalled how the pair got acquainted and the business relationship that began because of it during in an interview with NFL Network's Kay Adams:

“The first thing he said was, ‘you're wearing Jordans on game day,' ” said the Saints coach. “I'm going to make you my first Jordan Coach,” Jordan told him.

Payton says he was a bit bewildered by the whole situation, but received an e-mail from Jordan Brand two weeks later to put the deal in motion. “It's Jumpman right now,” the Saints coach says.

Payton first met Jordan when he played at his new private golf course The Grove XXXIII in Hobe Sound during Super Bowl Weekend. It appears the latter had already been made well aware of his affinity for Jordan's shoe brand.

Payton is hardly the only coach that can be seen decked out in Jordan's gear. Among the other notable figures is Michigan's Jim Harbaugh and Juwan Howard along with Georgetown's Patrick Ewing. Of course, their partnership is through the university's that they work for.

As a result, the Saints coach has now become the first professional coach to get a deal with Jordan on his or her own. There is already quite the Jordan connection brewing in New Orleans with wide receiver Michael Thomas and defensive end Cameron Jordan already representing Jumpman.
