Teddy Bridgewater appears to be returning to the New Orleans Saints. That's despite an offer from the Miami Dolphins.

This may be surprising to a lot of people. First of all, Bridgewater's turning down a bigger offer. Second, he's not the starter in New Orleans, and he knows it. Drew Brees is the starter, and there's no competition.

However, if he were to go to Miami, the worst case scenario Bridgewater would be given a chance to earn the starting role.

This is clearly a business decision though, and one that makes sense when looking at it from a certain angle.

The first thing to look at is the fit. Maybe Bridgewater doesn't like the fit with Miami. He might not feel comfortable with the coaching or weapons around him – or maybe some other unknown factor.

Then there's Bridgewater himself. Not long ago – there were talks that he'd never play football again. Speculation that he might lose his leg was a legitimate worry for a while too.

The QB may feel he's not 100% ready to take on the role of starting QB. This could be all about comfort and wanting more time to prepare and learn behind a future Hall of Famer in Brees.

In the end, learning from someone like Brees will only help your career in the long run. Due to that, sitting for one or two more seasons could end up being an extremely positive thing.

Finally, there are the Saints themselves. As Jane Slater said, Bridgewater values the locker room culture and chance to be their starting QB one day. If you're comfortable in a locker room, it would be hard to leave. Especially one as talented as New Orleans as.

The Saints have plenty of weapons that make life easier for a QB. With that in mind, it's understandable that Bridgewater would like to throw the ball to Michael Thomas when he gets his next chance as a starting QB in the NFL.
