The Seattle Seahawks have been pegged as one of the frontrunners to sign EDGE rusher Jadeveon Clowney this offseason. Unfortunately, the writing on the wall has all but pointed toward his looming departure.

Defensive lineman Jarran Reed took to Twitter to confirm that he is back to wearing No. 90 for the Seahawks:

The update from Reed all but confirms that Clowney's time in has now come to an end. After all, he had paid a heavy price tag to purchase the jersey number from him following his trade last offseason.

The fact that Reed was already able to get it back only helps to solidify the notion that Clowney is on his way out. He has been testing the waters of free agency throughout the offseason and has clearly had no problem taking a patient approach to find a deal that is more suitable for him. Despite Seattle's efforts to sign him for the long haul, it appears his price range may be too expensive for their taste.

Clowney is coming off a modest year with the Seahawks from a production standpoint after finishing the 2019 campaign with 31 tackles and 3.0 sacks. Regardless, he still displayed his skill set off the edge by forcing four fumbles and taking an interception for a touchdown before being named a Pro Bowl alternate for his efforts.

Clowney has been hoping to receive a deal similar to that of his fellow elite pass rushers from the 2014 NFL Draft in Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald and Chicago Bears outside linebacker Khalil Mack.

It will be interesting to see which team he finds himself wearing No. 90 for next.
