The Seattle Seahawks have a very intriguing group of running backs on their roster. However, only one can be the starter.

For the Seahawks, Chris Carson entered the year with a bit of a lead. According to Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic, he still has that edge.

Contact or not, Carson continues to look like the best running back on the roster. That’s not to say Penny has been bad. In fact, he looked really explosive on a few screen passes Saturday; he’s just not at the same level as Carson right now.

The Seattle Seahawks have a number of talented running backs. Besides Chris Carson, there's Rashaad Penny right near the front. They also have C.J. Prosise and Bo Scarbrough, as well as Travis Homer.

As you can tell, that's a very young group but also a talented bunch. Due to that, the Seahawks are smart to enter training camp with an open mind about the position. That being said, it's clearly more of a two-man race between Carson and Penny. Someone could emerge as well, but as of right now there's a gap between those two and the rest.

However, there appears to even be a slight gap between those two. Carson entered camp with a slight edge and has done nothing to lose it. It speaks volumes of how much he's impressing that Penny is getting praise but said to be “not at the same level as Carson right now.”

No matter how you look at it and no matter who wins, the Seattle Seahawks are winners in this race. They clearly have an abundance of youth and wealth at the position, and it should only continue getting strong as the players get more experience in the NFL.
