Seattle Seahawks wide receiver David Moore is expected to miss the start of the regular season as a result of a shoulder injury, according to Brady Henderson of ESPN.com.

Moore, who is not expected to need surgery, initially suffered the injury during practice on Thursday, after which Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Moore is “going to be out a while.”

For a Seahawks receiving corps that was already thin as it is, this is pretty much the worst possible news.

Seattle said goodbye to long-time wideout Doug Baldwin over the offseason, and rookie receiver D.K. Metcalf is currently sidelined after undergoing minor knee surgery.

That basically leaves Tyler Lockett and not much else in the Seahawks' aerial attack.

Moore played his collegiate football at East Central University and was originally selected by Seattle in the seventh round (226th pick overall) of the 2017 NFL Draft.

He did not log a single statistic during his rookie year, but in 2018, he showed some promise, playing in all 16 games and catching 26 passes for 445 yards and five touchdowns.

Moore was expected by many to be the Seahawks' No. 2 receiver behind Lockett heading into the 2019 campaign.

Seattle is coming off of a season in which it won 10 games and nailed down a Wild Card berth in the NFC. It then proceeded to lose to the Dallas Cowboys in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs.

Since 2012, the Seahawks have missed the postseason just once, making a pair of Super Bowl appearances and winning a championship during that span.
