Late last month, it was revealed that Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Doug Baldwin had a sore knee that would keep him off the field for weeks. Fast forward to now, and the veteran wideout seems to be progressing just fine, as Michael-Shawn Dugar of The Athletic has reported that Baldwin was doing sprints during practice on Thursday.

This is good news for Baldwin, particularly with regards to his availability for Seattle’s season opener against the Denver Broncos on Sep. 9, which is a little over three weeks away.

Baldwin has yet to participate in any of the Seahawks’ practice sessions since training camp opened on Jul. 26, though, it makes a lot of sense for Seattle to keep him off the field until at least he is 100 percent healthy. Seattle does not have a lot of proven offensive weapons as it enters the 2018 season.

Quarterback Russell Wilson is always going to be a threat with his arm and legs, but the team’s receiving corps is far from inspiring, especially with tight end Jimmy Graham gone. Seattle got Jaron Brown, Ed Dickson, and Brandon Marshall on board this offseason, but they’re not the type opposing defenses would lose sleep over, which largely explains the urgent need for Baldwin to get healthy soon before the season starts.

Last season, Baldwin led the team with 991 receiving yards with eight touchdowns on 75 receptions.
