Wide receiver Jermaine Kearse has been patiently testing the waters of free agency this offseason. It seems he is enamored with the prospect of returning to the Seattle Seahawks.

Baldwin started his career with the Seahawks. He admitted during an appearance on Sports Radio 950 KJR that he is interested in going back to Seattle.

“Yeah. Look, I would love to play back in Seattle,” Kearse said. “Obviously things have to work out in its own and things have to be right. It would be an opportunity that would be a great opportunity.”

Kearse's interest in a potential return to the Seahawks is certainly understandable. He got to live out his childhood dream of playing for his hometown team. It is also the place where he emerged as a bonafide NFL wideout.

Kearse registered 153 receptions for 2,109 yards and 11 touchdowns in 69 regular season games during his first stint in Seattle. Despite his modest production, he was ultimately traded to the New York Jets as part of the deal that brought defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson over prior to the 2017 NFL season. Kearse wound up enjoying the best year of his career that season and is now hoping to mirror that success in familiar territory.

Fortunately for Kearse, his signing would certainly make sense for the Seahawks as well. It is no secret they are looking to beef up their receiving corps. Although they are set to host a number of players in free agency and through the draft process, there are very few that will be able to make a seamless transition like Kearse would due to his knowledge of the playbook from his first stint.
