K.J. Wright has been in the NFL for a decade now, and he's spent his entire 10-year career with the Seattle Seahawks. The 31-year-old is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the coming weeks, and at this point, his future in Seattle remains uncertain.

Wright recently gave his honest take on his impending free agency. For starters, he acknowledged that it would be a dream to live out his career with the Seahawks:

“I mean that would just be a beautiful story if I could just ride it all out with the Seahawks,” Wright told Jim Rome on a recent interview, via the CBS Sports Network. “That's some legendary type stuff.”

However, the Pro Bowl LB also pointed out why he believes it would be in the team's best interest to keep him on board:

“I believe it would be a great investment for Seattle to keep me because as you've seen since I've been here, we've been nothing but awesome.”

Wright then went on to say that the front office knows that he wants to stay with the team. Nevertheless, the veteran also made it clear that he “gets it,” and that “they gotta do business.”

When asked if he would be willing to take less money in order to help the Seahawks with their salary cap issues, Wright was adamant with his response:

“I do way too much on the football field to take a discount, it makes absolutely no sense,” he said. “… I have a family and I'm trying to set up long, long term success for my family.”

It's hard to argue against Wright's point when he puts it that way. Nonetheless, it remains to be seen if the Seahawks, who themselves have other pressing matters on their plate, will be on the same page with him come contract negotiations time.
