The 2020 NFL Draft is going to be conducted virtually due to the coronavirus, but that isn't stopping the Seattle Seahawks from making draft-day trades. With less than a week until the draft, Pete Carroll hints at a trade for the Seahawks.

“Probably the most intricate part of this [virtual draft] other than the analytics that have compiled to this point is the potential to move in the draft,” Carroll explained on the Flying Coach podcast. “We have been very, very active over the years and have always been looking for an opportunity. We consider it another chance to compete, and so we will consider [trades] with every pick that we are making in some way or another.”

As Carroll pointed out, Seattle hasn't shied away from making trades during the draft since he's been in Seattle. Just last year, the Seahawks were part of a whopping seven draft-day trades. If you count the trade that sent Frank Clark to the Kansas City Chiefs, they had eight trades involving draft picks.

Heading into this year's draft, the Seahawks possess the No. 27 pick in the first round. While Seattle could have a particular player in mind, there's a decent chance that they move later in the first round or into the early second round instead.

The idea of trading back for the Seahawks is to compile as many draft picks as possible. At the same time, moving into the second round allows Seattle to draft a player on a cheaper contract than in the first round. Even though the Seahawks currently have the No. 27 pick, it almost seems inevitable that they won't be making a selection at that spot.
