The Seattle Seahawks' season is over after failing to get over the Green Bay Packers in the divisional round. With no football left to play until during the mini-camps teams hold in the offseason, Quinton Jefferson will not be able to play football for a certain period of time.

The defensive lineman broke his foot during the Seahawks' crushing 28-23 defeat. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL.com, Jefferson will be going through the knife over the next couple of days in order to get fit sooner than later. He also detailed the extent of the injury and the amount of time it may take before doctors clear him to play football again.

The defensive tackle is one of the more important presence to the team, and his effort was one of the reasons why the Seahawks reached the postseason. Jefferson was flexible in such a way that you can place him anywhere on the defensive line, and he'll be more than effective. This season, he finished the regular season with 26 tackles, 3.5 sacks, one fumble recovery, and three pass deflections over the course of the season.

To make things more interesting, Jefferson was in the final year of his contract with Seattle. He'll be in the free agent market, and plenty of NFL teams would love to have a player like Jefferson in their team.

However, it's clear that Seattle will be considering to bring him back to the fold. Seeing how well he performed for the Seahawks this year, it's not hard to imagine him lining up for the Seahawks in an all-improved deal.
