Seattle Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright has always been big into charity work since coming into the league and the last couple of years he has taken an interest in Kenya. Last season Wright helped raise money to build wells in Kenya and went over to Africa to help build them. This season he is back in Kenya to check up on the wells he helped build.

“It just hit my heart,” Wright said of his last visit to Kenya, via the team's official website. “I'm always trying to help people whenever I can, and I just learned about a situation I had no idea about, and it just touched me to do something.”

Wright was the Seahawks' 2018 nominee for the Walter Payton Man of the Year, which earned him a $25,000 donation that he put towards the wells. Each of the wells cost over $20,000 and last season he built two of them.

Wright said he learned early on from his time with the Seahawks just how important it was to give back from the veterans on the team.

“You just watch and learn from the older guys,” Wright said. “I was looking at Cliff (Avril) doing his thing in Haiti. I saw Breno (Giacomini) and Marshawn (Lynch) go to Egypt, and I was like, man this is cool stuff… That’s always been a goal of mine to be that guy in the community that everyone can look up to so I can help show my brothers that we can do a lot in the community and help people around us.”

It's good to see Wright find something that is important to him and to continue to pursue it during the offseason.
