The Seattle Seahawks have officially announced the hiring of new defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr., offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, and offensive line coach Mike Solari, per Seahawks.com's John Boyle.

The news came out just a few days ago that Norton, who had already agreed to go to the San Francisco 49ers to be their assistant head coach for defense and inside linebackers coach, had had a change of heart. Norton instead opted to return to Seattle, where served as linebackers coach for five years before becoming the Oakland Raiders’ defensive coordinator in 2015.

Ken Norton Jr. will replace Kris Richard, who was officially fired as defensive coordinator. Richard spent three seasons in charge of the Seahawks defense following Dan Quinn's departure and five more years with the team as a defensive coach.

The Seahawks also formally announced the additions of Schottenheimer and Solari, who replace offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell and offensive line coach Tom Cable, respectively. The two were fired following a disappointing season from the Seattle offense in 2017.

Schottenheimer was the quarterbacks coach of the Indianapolis Colts over the past two seasons, but does have experience as an offensive coordinator. He spent six seasons in charge of the New York Jets' offense and three with the St. Louis Rams.

The Seahawks also announced the firing linebackers coach/assistant head coach Michael Barrow. Barrow was hired in 2015 and added the assistant head coach title last season.

Seattle head coach Pete Carroll has made these sweeping changes to his coaching staff on the heels of a disappointing season for the Seahawks. Though they finished 9-7, they still missed the playoffs for the first time since 2011.
