The Seattle Seahawks are looking for an answer in terms of pressuring the quarterback, as they traded defensive end Frank Clark to the Kansas City Chiefs earlier this offseason.

The Seahawks did sign fellow defensive lineman Ezekiel Ansah, but Ansah is still recovering from shoulder surgery.

So, Seattle may have to be resourceful in order to find a solution, and part of that solution may be linebacker Barkevious Mingo.

According to Brady Henderson of ESPN, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll says that the team is planning to use Mingo more as a pass rusher in 2019 in spite of him barely doing so this past year.

It is also interesting to note that Carroll had not previously mentioned Mingo when discussing Seattle's linebackers, so perhaps Carroll is planning on using Mingo more as a down lineman.

Mingo played in all 16 games in 2018, registering 48 tackles, a sack, a couple of forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in what was his first season as a member of the Seahawks.

The 28-year-old, who played his collegiate football at LSU, was originally selected by the Cleveland Browns with the sixth overall pick of the 2013 NFL Draft.

However, Mingo never lived up to expectations.

He appeared in 15 contests during his rookie year, totaling 42 tackles, five sacks and four passes defended. Then, the following year, Mingo finished with just 42 tackles, a couple of sacks and a fumble recovery.

Mingo spent the first three years of his career with the Browns before spending seasons with the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts in 2016 and 2017, respectively. He then joined Seattle in 2018.
