Sloclap, the developer behind the critically acclaimed martial arts action game, Sifu, has recently updated the game to version 1.07, which includes several bug fixes such as fixes to camera collision, infinite loop exploits, and more. But the biggest addition to this new version is the inclusion of Mandarin Chinese voice-overs to the game.
This feature was openly requested by fans for several weeks since its initial release, as many players wanted their play-through to feel more authentic to the game's setting and theme. With Sloclap looking to capitalize on their success with the game, they were more than happy to oblige. Not only were the developers kind enough to include a Mandarin Chinese voice-over option, but they have also showcased the talent behind the new voice-overs in a 3-minute video:
In this video, the Chinese voice director, Li Zhengxiang, expresses his thoughts on the characters found in the main storyline, and his direction on how each of those characters was portrayed. While the names of the voice actors were not specifically mentioned, the video also showcases a few of their recording sessions, letting the players see the effort and subtleties that are needed for each performance.
Adding Chinese voice-overs may not seem like a big deal, but it does further show how Sloclap is dedicated to making Sifu into the martial arts game that they once dreamed of. With heavy inspiration taken from various martial arts movies of the past and present, such as Bruce Lee films, Oldboy (2003), and The Raid 2, Sifu has quickly become an instant classic, scoring several 9 out of 10 scores from various gaming news outlets. Sloclap also plans to update the game with more patches and fixes, and the potential for DLC content is very likely. For anyone that enjoys martial-arts action games, or fans who have already played through Sifu once may want to revisit the game once more. This new voice-over option may give the players a new vibe to an already excellent game.
