Philadelphia 76ers power forward Al Horford believes Sixers star Joel Embiid “is the best big man in the league right now.”

Horford and Embiid form a lethal frontcourt duo in Philly. For the past few years, Horford has defended Embiid really tough when the Sixers and Boston Celtics have played, so fans in Philadelphia are naturally thrilled to have Horford on their side now.

“I’ve never had the chance to play with a guy like Joel,” Horford said, via Tom Moore of the Bucks Courier Times. “It’s really a dream come true for me — a guy who can do it all on the floor and I believe is the best big man in the league right now. I’m just here to help him and help our team.”

Joel Embiid played in 64 games for the Sixers last season. The two-time All-Star averaged 27.5 points, 13.6 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.9 blocks while shooting 48.4 percent from the field, 30.0 percent from beyond the arc and 80.4 percent from the free-throw line.

Embiid recorded 58 double-doubles and two triple-doubles.

Al Horford signed a four-year, $109 million contract with the Sixers. He put up 13.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists with the Celtics last season, shooting 53.5 percent from the floor, 36.0 percent from the 3-point line and 82.1 percent from the charity stripe.

The Sixers now have four elite defenders in Al Horford, Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Josh Richardson. Philly acquired Richardson from the Miami Heat in the Jimmy Butler sign-and-trade deal. Tobias Harris has the physical tools to be a stout defender as well, though he needs to give more effort on a nightly basis.
