Philadelphia 76ers superstar Ben Simmons showcased his hangtime early in the second quarter of action on Tuesday as the Sixers took on the Boston Celtics in the TD Garden.

Simmons came up with an insane reverse layup that surprised even the 24-year-old himself (h/t ClutchPoints on Twitter):

Simmons took advantage of a lackluster defensive stance by the Celtics to drive all the way to the hoop. He was met by a Celtics defender at the rim though, so the Sixers star had to resort to a bit of body contortion to avoid the block. It resulted in a thing of beauty from the 6-foot-11 point guard.

Tuesday's contest was a marquee matchup between two of the top teams in the East over the past few years. The Sixers entered the game with just half a game behind the surging Brooklyn Nets for the top spot in the East. For their part, Boston has been struggling of late as they sit precariously at the seventh spot in the conference (as of Tuesday afternoon).

There was a lot riding in this contest between two rivals, and Simmons clearly knew what was at stake. He's been one of the best defenders in the entire NBA this season, but in this particular occasion, Simmons proved that he's pretty adept at scoring the ball, too.
