Ben Simmons came into the NBA with high expectations after being picked No. 1 overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 2016 NBA Draft. After missing his entire rookie season due to injury, Simmons played for the first time last year and won a somewhat controversial Rookie of the Year award while leading the Sixers to the third seed in the Eastern Conference.

While Simmons was outstanding, his jump shot was a notable weakness. He shot 56 percent from the free-throw line and didn't make a single 3-pointer. Despite this, the youngster doesn't feel his shooting should be the main focus of his career, and he's focused on improving every aspect of his game. He added that he doesn't plan on all of a sudden becoming a knockdown 3-point shooter this season.

These remarks may come as a shock to many who thought, at the very least, Simmons would make improving his 3-point shot a priority. With fellow star Joel Embid doing a lot of his work in the post, more consistent shooting from Simmons would unlock even more potential.

There is no doubt Simmons is a big part of the future of the NBA. He put up incredible numbers as a rookie and has massive two-way potential. But if he doesn't improve his shot, he won't reach his true ceiling.
