The Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers played their last game of the season against each other for this year, but it seems like it could actually just be the beginning of a rebirth of the two teams' classic rivalry.

Back in the day, the big rivalry was between the Celtics and the Sixers in the East, and all the seeds seem to be in place to have that started up again. After Game 5 of their semifinals series, Joel Embiid hinted about this being just the start.

Sixers coach Brett Brown had the same feelings about the two teams' place in the Eastern Conference.

“If we're going to do anything of any significance, we're always going to have to go through the Boston Celtics,” Brown told ESPN.

The top three teams in the Eastern Conference are the Sixers, Celtics, and the Cleveland Cavaliers. If LeBron James decides to leave the Cavs and go to a Western Conference team, it makes even more sense that these teams will be the class of the conference for years to come.

The Celtics have been able to make the Eastern Conference Finals without Gordan Hayward or Kyrie Irving, so as good as this team has been, it's only going to get better next year.

For the Sixers, they have a young core to build around with Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, Dario Saric, and Markelle Fultz. They could also have more than $30 million in cap space, which is more than enough to make a big splash in free agency.

With the talent that is on these teams, look for some tough battles between them for many years to come.
