The Philadelphia 76ers kicked off their primetime matchup versus the Golden State Warriors in spectacular fashion on Saturday night. The upstart Sixers stormed out of the gate and shocked the defending champs by ripping off a 47-point first quarter.

Despite finding themselves up by 23 at one point, the Sixers ultimately floundered in the second half before losing to the Warriors 124-116. According to Jessica Camerato of NBC Sports Philadelphia, budding superstar Joel Embiid feels the reason for the loss was more on Philly faltering down the stretch than it was due to Golden State's performance:

“They didn’t flip a switch. We were just bad in the third quarter. But you’ve got to give them a lot of credit. They were aggressive and they were physical with us, especially in the second half. They did what they had to do and they got a win.”

The Warriors came out the second half by countering the Sixers with a 47-point quarter of their own. To make matters worse, Philly answered their onslaught with a meager 15 points.

Although the Sixers were unable to finish the game how they would have liked, they can at least relish in the fact that they had the defending champs on the ropes at one point like no other team has in recent years. Furthermore, they got another strong performance from their young stars in Embiid and rookie phenom Ben Simmons.
