Philadelphia 76ers legend Julius Erving is a believer in the young team’s prospects for the upcoming season. According to CSN Philly’s Jessica Camerato, Dr. J thinks the Sixers have a decent shot at making it back to the playoffs in the Eastern Conference.

Philadelphia hasn’t made the playoffs in five seasons as they went into a rebuilding mode under former general manager Sam Hinkie. But they finally showed signs of improvement last season as Joel Embiid emerged as a potential superstar during his rookie year.

The Sixers could improve even more after they added veteran shooter J.J. Redick and No. 1 overall pick Markelle Fultz this offseason. Last year’s No. 1 pick Ben Simmons is also set to return after missing the entire year due to a broken foot.

Meanwhile, some of last year’s Eastern Conference playoff teams (the Atlanta Hawks, Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls) could take a significant step back after losing their stars this offseason.

With all of those factors in play, Dr. J's prognosis of the Sixers team and their playoff chances could turn out to be an accurate one.
