Marco Belinelli had no shame admitting why he joined the Philadelphia 76ers, despite all of his potential options in a very competitive buyout market.

“Because I trust the process,” said Belinelli, getting a few laughs from the reporters. “I think I was lucky to watch a couple of games from other teams and Philly too. I think you guys play really well, play together on offense, on defense.”

“I really trust this kind of team. Just the opportunity to play with this team, to make a run for the playoffs, I think it's gonna be good for me.”

The Sixers couldn't have added shooting at a better time, as Joel Embiid's acumen from distance has seen a sour turn and the likes of Robert Covington and Dario Saric have struggled to connect from downtown as often as they did early in the season.

Philadelphia will now have the right outside firepower coming from the bench behind marksman J.J. Redick, and one with plenty of experience, having played for eight different teams in his 11 seasons in the league.

Belinelli was bought out by the Atlanta Hawks and consequently committed to the Sixers. After officially signing earlier today, the Italian guard is expected to make his debut tonight against the New York Knicks. He is averaging 11.4 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game this season while shooting 37 percent from beyond the arc.

His impact will be dependent on the minutes head coach Brett Brown gives him, but if he does trust the process as he says he does, it will only be a matter of time before he feels right at home in Philly.
