The Philadelphia 76ers lost Jimmy Butler this offseason, but did well enough working through the parameters of his departure to arguably come out in a stronger position than they were before. By bringing in Josh Richardson in the sign-and-trade that sent Butler to the Miami Heat and using cap space that had been previously earmarked for him to sign Al Horford, Philadelphia is considered by many as the Eastern Conference favorites next season.

As a result, it's safe to assume the Sixers will play nice when asked about Butler's absence and the circumstances surrounding it going forward. Unlike the Minnesota Timberwolves, Brett Brown's team is hardly left in ruins by Butler leaving town. In a Twitter post thanking former players who moved on this offseason, though, it certainly seemed like Philadelphia didn't put too much effort or care behind thanking Butler for his contributions.

The tweet in question has since been amended to include Butler's last name spelled correctly.

Butler was acquired by the Sixers last November in exchange for Robert Covington and Dario Saric. Though he initially balked at his new role in Philadelphia's offense, Butler ultimately proved a nice fit, taking over primary ball-handling duties from Ben Simmons in the playoffs while nearly helping the Sixers to victory over the eventual-champion Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Philadelphia should be right back in the mix for a title next season. As for Jimmy Butler? He'll be fighting for a playoff berth as Miami's alpha dog, the status he's long sought since forcing his way from the Chicago Bulls two years ago.
