The Philadelphia 76ers will make a change to their roster as they are set to sign free agent guard Demetrius Jackson to a two-way contract. To make room for his signing, the team will reportedly release James Michael McAdoo, making him an unrestricted free agent who can join any team that will claim him off waivers, per Shams Charania of The Vertical.

The move does make a lot of sense for the Sixers as Jackson could add more depth to their point guard rotation. He can also be considered as insurance for them, especially with the injury woes of Markelle Fultz. Parting ways with McAdoo won't hurt them much as he has only appeared in three games this season so far, and only averaged 2.7 points in 6.0 minutes.

Jackson last saw action in the NBA for the Houston Rockets after he signed a two-way contract with them prior to the start of the campaign. He appeared in 12 games for them during the time Chris Paul was injured and came off the bench for very limited minutes. His contract was terminated earlier this month and after signing a 10-day contract with the team, and was immediately assigned to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers of the G-League.

Now set to be part of the Sixers, he could have a chance to compete for more playing time whenever the team makes him part of their lineup, as two-way players only have a maximum of 45 days to be in the NBA. However, it is also worth noting that the 76ers still have T.J. McConell and Jerryd Bayless which could make it very difficult for Jackson to make an impact for them.
