Philadelphia 76ers center Dwight Howard has been ejected in consecutive contests. He said Monday he has to show restraint.

Howard is hoping to keep his focus on the floor and not on the whistles as Philly prepares for Tuesday's showdown with the Denver Nuggets.

The three-time Defensive Player of the Year was ejected during Thursday's game with the Los Angeles Lakers after a run-in with Montrezl Harrell.

Howard and Harrell got tangled up multiple times. Howard was tossed after encroaching Harrell's space prior to the start of the second quarter.

It seemed like a silly ejection, to be sure. But Sixers coach Doc Rivers was none too pleased, saying Howard and Harrell acted like “clowns.”

Howard managed to stay on the floor for a more extended period Saturday against the Los Angeles Clippers, racking up 11 rebounds in just under 19 minutes of action.

However, Howard was tossed from that contest when he kept barking at the officials following an offensive foul call. Howard was still chirping as Paul George prepared to shoot the technical free throw, ultimately getting ejected once again.

The Sixers cannot afford to be depleted of frontcourt depth, especially with Joel Embiid still sidelined.

Howard gives Philly a vital rebounding presence and rim protector capable of diving to the rim and elevating for lobs. If nothing else, he soaks up minutes.

The Sixers are still rolling along as the top seed in the Eastern Conference. But Rivers and Co. will likely be reliant on Howard to maintain better composure going forward.
