Several teams have expressed interest in New York Knicks veteran Marcus Morris. Rumors are swirling that the Philadelphia 76ers may be interested in acquiring the two-way forward, per Marc Berman of The New York Post.

Morris is a Philly native, and apparently one reason why he signed with the Knicks after spurning the San Antonio Spurs was because of the distance to his hometown. Berman notes a Sixers trade for Morris may require a third team to help facilitate the acquisition of the forward and his $15 million deal for this season.

While Morris' name keeps coming up in trade rumors, he continues to reiterate that he wants to stay in New York to help rebuild the franchise. Still, perhaps a hometown move to play for a contender would make him even happier. The Knicks are just 10-25 on the season, and while they have been playing better of late, they still aren't going anywhere.

Morris is currently putting up career numbers in a starting role for New York. The nine-year veteran is averaging 18.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists while shooting 42.8 percent from the field and a blistering 45.4 percent from beyond the arc.

Those shooting numbers from 3-point country are definitely enticing for the Sixers. Philadelphia is in dire need of shooting, and Marcus Morris would instantly fill in that need for them. Likewise, the 26-year old would help space the floor more for Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid. The Sixers have been slumping of late, so they could use the scoring punch.
