Spike Lee is looking to reunite with Jesus Shuttlesworth.

For those who are not in the know, Lee was the director of the 1998 movie “He Got Game” where Ray Allen played the role of Jesus Shuttlesworth – a prized high school basketball recruit.

This time around, one of the New York Knicks’ biggest fans isn’t after a remake. He wants Ray Allen to come out of “retirement” and play for the Big Apple team, as revealed in Dom Amore’s recent article for the Hartford Courant.

“Spike Lee has been trying to recruit me … We've been texting.”

“I worked out the other day in New York with a friend of mine … I was shooting, I was going through my routine just like I'd always done. Yeah, I was a little winded, but I was able to go through my routine like I'd always gone though my routine and I didn't feel like I'd missed any time in doing what I was doing. For me, it's not ‘Can I do it anymore?' It's how I feel after I do it. And yesterday, I felt great.”

The Knicks have been the early noisemakers this summer with the acquisitions of Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah. Many have labeled them as the East’s version of a super team, which is still debatable.

But if one of the NBA’s greatest shooters ever decides to heed the call of Spike Lee, then that team would take another silent step into fortifying their roster.

Ray Allen wouldn’t be just a knock-down shooter for coach Jeff Hornacek. One valuable thing that he could bring to the team is his locker room presence. He is a proven winner whom Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis, and co. could look up to if in case.
